Valentine’s Day on a cargo ship

It's a snowy cinnamon bun Sunday. It seems like it has been snowing for days, and each morning, as I pass the outside door and look through the porthole and see the snow falling, I am grateful that I do not have to commute to work. Lorraine (my sister, best friend, and publisher) drives to spend the day with me when the roads are good for driving. She doesn't mind driving in the snow, but we are more concerned about the other drivers who don't have winter tires or experience driving in snow. I reminded Lorraine that I would rather she stay with our friends for the day and come when the weather improves. I am into my third week onboard the Tadoussac. The time is going so fast. I can't believe it's cinnamon bun Sunday again. Usually, I am home for the month of February, but this year, I am cooking for a crew and some extras while they do winter work. I was planning on making a special Valentine's Day dessert to mark the special occasion. My plans changed when I had a mishap with the chocolate muffins I was trying to make for breakfast. Sometimes, I have more trouble making simple things. The ovens onboard are the original ovens that came with the ship decades ago. Within the first few days, I learned where the hot spots are in the oven and what settings work for what I plan to bake or cook in the oven. Baking ready-made chocolate muffins doesn't react like made-from-scratch baking. The last time I made the chocolate muffins, they got a little dark on top. This time, I planned to use the left-hand oven. I use it for most of my baking, however, it was not hot enough to help the double chocolate muffins rise. I used the muffin mishap to make a Valentine's dessert. Click on the video to see the results. Have a wonderful Sunday.
