First 10 days on the CSL Tadoussac
It's cinnamon bun Sunday on the Tadoussac. Actually, it's my second cinnamon bun Sunday. Yesterday morning, I made a little video for you; it was such a beautiful, calm morning. I looked over at Toronto, and it was so peaceful. I imagined the busy streets and millions of people just a short distance away, but the silence made me wonder if everyone was sleeping. It was 06h00, after all. This morning, it is entirely different. It has been snowing since last night, and the cars parked at the impound next door are covered in snow. We think it's an impound because the cars never move. We are in such a beautiful location. When Lorraine (my sister, best friend, and publisher) drove me here last week on the 30th, we remarked on how close it was to a beautiful park and walking trail. I said maybe we could go for a walk sometime after lunch. That statement was a fantasy. This is a great job and I really like it here but there is very little time for anything else but work and sleep. The Tadoussac is one of the old classics and has a forward house where the Captain, mates, deckhands and wheelsmen have their cabins. During winter work, the rooms are not available. The rooms back aft are full so there is nowhere for Lorraine to sleep on board. She stays with a friend and comes every morning around 10h30. We spend the day together and she leaves after supper. I am so grateful for her help. She has said multiple times, "How do you do this by yourself?" It's such a treat to spend every day together, and each day, I say I'm going to write a post and share my photos, and then each evening, I say I think I will go straight to bed. We laugh at the daily "Groundhog Day" conversation. I thought a video would be easier to get out to you and I got up earlier this morning to finish it so that you would have something to read and look at with your Sunday morning coffee. I hope you have a wonderful cinnamon bun Sunday.
