Tremblant Fall Walk Oct 5, 2023

October! I can hardly believe it myself as I am writing the date October 5, 2023. The weather screams summer, and the past 10 days have been delivering summer-like temperatures. Lorraine (my sister, best friend and publisher) and I spent the past week travelling through Ontario, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Michigan stopping along for book signing/meet and greets and some extra fun along the way. Each day when we got up and set out on our day’s adventure we were greeted by beautiful warm sunshine and temperatures. Monday we spent the day with our friends in cottage country and enjoyed a boat ride on Lake Simcoe.

This is the route of our one week book signing/meet and greet tour. A Left Mont Tremblant, Quebec. B picked up books from the printer in Toronto. C Book signing/Meet and greet at St Catharine’s Museum and Welland Canal Center. D Book signing/Meet and greet Ashtabula Maritime Museum. E Book signing/ Meet and greet Sandusky Ohio (and an evening at Cedar Point riding the roller coasters ) F Crossing over the Ambassador Bridge. G Visiting Friends on Lake Simcoe H A wonderful overnight at our River Retreat in Brockville. Then return to Tremblant.

Tuesday morning was another beautiful summer-like day and after enjoying our coffee outdoors we got back into the pretty red car heading in the direction of home with a few stops along the way. We stopped in Toronto again to pick up more books and then made our way to Brockville. The weather was so beautiful we extended our trip by a day so that we could enjoy an overnight at the Brockville River Retreat.

Brockville River Retreat

The River Retreat is just as beautiful at dusk as it is during the day. We stayed out as long as we could before making our way inside. We had hoped to see a ship but there were none in sight.

I love the design the lights made on the grass

The next morning, Lorraine and I got up early to do a little paperwork and prepare the envelopes that we planned to mail from the Cape Vincent post office located right next door to Belle Epoque, where we planned to deliver books and replenish their shelves. Lorraine asked if I heard the ship passing throughout the night, but our busy days sent me into a deep sleep and I didn’t hear the engines as the ship sailed by. We hurried to finish our tasks so that we could drink our coffee on the dock and enjoy the warm morning sun.

Coffee Tastes better sipping it at the River

It was a little easier to leave the River Retreat knowing that we would be back on the 21st of October. We will stay there for the weekend for the book signing /meet and greet at the Little Book Store in Clayton, New York on the 21st and book signing/meet and greet at RiverWest Co in Brockville, Ontario on the 22nd. We met up with a friend who offered to help us make our book deliveries in the US. We happily accepted so that we did not have to unload all the books we picked up in Toronto. We made our way over the Johnstown-Ogdensburg bridge and dropped off books in Ogdensburg at the Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center before heading west to Cape Vincent Belle Époque, St Lawrence Michael Ringer Gallery and the Little Book Store in Clayton. Our friend thought it was fun that Lorraine and I were recognized on the sidewalks in Clayton by a couple who were visiting from Chicago and again in the parking lot of the Price Chopper by two ladies who were visiting from Buffalo. We all laughed when the person behind us in line at the cash register in the Price Chopper said “It’s Catherine Schmuck” We turned around and recognized the pilot who we coincidentally saw last spring when we were at the Price Chopper. I sailed with him in April when I was on the AlgoTerra. What are the chances? We had each picked out a take-out salad to enjoy at the picnic area at the 1000 Island New York State Welcome Centre. It was such a nice place to enjoy our dinner. We made our way back over the two bridges spanning across the numerous islands just as the sun was starting to set. We stopped at our friend’s house and got into the pretty red car. Both Lorraine and the pretty red car were happy to have a break. The pretty red car stayed parked for the day and Lorraine enjoyed being a passenger as our friend drove us around to make our deliveries. Before Lorraine dropped me off last night at my apartment she said she would pick me up today to go for a walk. She picked me up this morning and after running an errand we made our way to go for a walk. As usual she let me choose where to walk and I chose the 6km (3.7 miles) loop at the Tremblant resort. It is another one of my favorite places to walk. It is very hilly and runs along the river. It was beautiful and I took photo after photo until my phone refused to take any more photos. It has been warning me to delete photos and videos. I will have to delete some old and duplicate photos to make more space.

It was a beautiful fall walk. The 6km (3.7 miles) loop runs along the river. It was the perfect day.

The pretty red car enjoyed a day sitting in the driveway of our friends.

Thank you to everyone who came out for the book signing/ meet and greets. It was so much fun. Thank you for the T-shirt and Merchandise orders. We will be placing the order on Monday and will send the first orders out as soon as they are ready. We will also be offering another design for an apron. I will share it with you as soon as I receive it. It was a suggestion at one of our meet and greets to have an apron with the Crew member logo. Lorraine and I are slowly getting ready for our trip to Maine. Get your virtual vacation bags ready for our trip to Maine. It is going to be a lot of fun!
